Apollo Beach is not a typical Tampa build. Between seawalls, saltwater air, tight side-yard access and Hillsborough County waterfront review, the details that decide whether a pool lasts 30 years get made long before excavation. We build here — including the two canal-front projects below.
On MiraBay and Symphony Isles canal lots, the pool shell and deck have to be engineered so they never transfer load into the seawall or its tieback system. That means a current survey, a structural engineer's stamp, and sometimes a deeper beam or a cantilevered deck edge. We resolve that at design, so the permit doesn't stall and the seawall doesn't pay for it later.
Two miles from open bay water, salt spray shortens the life of standard rails, light rings, screws, and equipment housings. Apollo Beach builds get corrosion-resistant hardware, coastal-rated equipment, and a pad located out of the prevailing spray line whenever the lot allows. Saltwater sanitation is popular here — it still needs the right bonded, coastal-grade components around it.
Much of Apollo Beach sits in a mapped flood zone, so equipment elevation, electrical placement, and deck grading all get looked at. Add HOA architectural review in MiraBay and Waterset and you have two approval tracks running at once. We manage both, including the survey, drainage plan, and barrier/alarm code compliance.

Canal-front lots typically sit at the higher end because of tighter access, seawall setback engineering, and the paver deck, spa, and fire feature packages waterfront homeowners usually want. Usually yes, but the pool shell and deck must be engineered so they do not load the seawall. Hillsborough County and your engineer will set the required offset based on the seawall's condition, cap design, and soil. We handle the survey, structural engineering, and permit package so this is resolved before excavation, not after.
It is optional, but many Apollo Beach homeowners skip a full cage on the water side to preserve the canal view and use landscaping plus a code-compliant safety barrier instead. If you want a cage, it must be rated for the wind exposure your address falls under.
Salt-laden air corrodes standard equipment pads, rails, light rings, and fasteners faster than inland. On Apollo Beach builds we specify corrosion-resistant hardware, position the pad away from prevailing spray where possible, and use equipment finishes built for coastal exposure.
Our Tampa Bay average is about 72 days of construction once permits are issued. Apollo Beach permitting through Hillsborough County typically adds a few weeks up front, and canal lots with limited side-yard access can add time for equipment staging.
